STAN RIDGWAY - Anatomy (1999)

Stan Ridgway after the "Wall of Voodoo" experience began a solo career. His unmistakable voice, melanchonic ballads and stories are the main ingredients of his music. "The Big Heat" and "Mosquitos" are the most popular works of  his solo career. "Anatomy" appears to be more thoughtful compared to the others. The  "techno-western" characteristic of Wall of Voodoo music is here less evident and more relaxed atmospheres are proposed in this album.

WALL OF VOODOO - Dark Continent (1981)

Wall of Voodoo Techno-Western here in the first LP their released (second one was "Call of the west" in 1982).
It could be a soundtrack of a western music with their "Morricone style " .
This is a vinyl rip (Flac24) of my original copy. I still listen to this with great pleasure.

STAN RIDGWAY - The Big Heat (1985)

I already post  this in 2012 (link expired). I am listening to the 2016 new work by Stan (Priestess of the promise land) and in the meantime I decide to repost this solo works from Wall of Voodoo former singer.
Too early to give a comment to the new work (just listen to 3 tracks) but seems that Stan style is always with us !!!

WALL OF VOODOO - Ring of fire (1980)

Recently I played this old EP and I appreciate again the feeling that Wall of Voodoo music gave to me several years ago. The Techno-Western Rhytm of this band was (is) full of energy. Unfortunately they had a very short story (at least with the original components). Stan Ridgway had a quite good solo career with quality works.

Wall of Voodoo was an extraordinary experience so intence as short. Stan Ridgaway left the Wall of Voodoo  band and this was his first "solo" album (1985). Less rhythm compared to wall of voodoo sound but more poetry and melody. A great album that open the way to  Stan solo carrier with unforgettable ballads like "camouflage"

STAN RIDGWAY - Neon Mirage

New work from Stan Ridgway. The heart of  the "unforgettable" Wall of Voodoo is still live.
It was since a long time  I had not listened  to Stan Ridgway or Wall of Voodoo sound. In these days I had to opportunity  to know the  new work of Stan and I was curious to go back in the past and this Is my conclusions:
Wall Of Voodoo in the 80's and the first two solo album of Stan are another thing but I listen with pleasure to the actual (Neon Mirage and probably the better  "Anatomy" of some year ago) music of Stan Ridgway. There is no more the energy of the 80's but is still available the class of a big artist. Unfortunatly I miss the last year tour in Italy so I hope to have the possibility to see him in the future. in the meantime we can listen to his "ballads" and new western waiting for the next .......
