THE DREAM SYNDICATE - Out of the grey (1986)

 

Steve Wynn is the Dream Syndicate Leader, still  in activity (both with the dream syndicate and with a solo career). Out of the grey is considered the third work of the group that signed the "Paisley Underground" scene of Los Angeles in the middle of the '80.

Some differences from "The Days of Wine and Roses" and " Medicine Show" but the unmistakable sound is there.

FOOLKILLERS - Out of State Miracles (2007)

 

Some revival today. Back to '80 at L.A. area some bands started  with a psychedelic-garage-rock review  ( from '60). The new musical current is known as "paisley underground".  Main actors were: Dream Syndicate (evergreen), Rain Parade, True West (fantastic cover of Lucifer Sam),  Opal, The Long Riders, Three O'Clock.....

True West were one of my favourites but unfortunately with a short life.

Foolkillers are the right continuation. 

Listening to this how not to recognize the TRUE WEST soul (voice and guitars).

TRUE WEST- HollYwood Holiday (1983)

I already posted this in the past but mediafire link is unfortunately expired. After the performance of The Dream Syndicate I saw some months ago,  recently I am listening  again to paisley underground music of mid '80. This night for example I am playing  (1, 2 and probably three time)  this wonderful LP.
It is still a great sound and  I propose to you again.
This is not my rip but comes anyway from vinyl as FLAC.

THE DREAM SYNDICATE - Milan June 19, 2019 (Magnolia)

Steve Wynn with The Dream Syndicate with "These Days" (new album) were in Italy for some dates. Paisley Underground from L.A. ('80) directly here these days. I was really impressed during the show to see the passion and howmuch they enjoy playing.
At the end of the concert a special guest (Manuel Agnelli member of Afterhouse) was on the stage  for the last 2 songs. Guitars are the center of Dream Syndicate music with long psychedelic riffs and a robust drum background and Wynn's original voice. New (or old) Californian sound is here!

DREAM SYNDICATE - The Days of Wine And Roses (1982)

The Dream Syndicate (1982) "The Days of Wine and Roses" is probably the manifest of the so called "Paisley Underground" movement  or California Sound of the '80. It was a mix of Rock_psychedelic_Folk_Blues   sonorities and The Dream syndicate   (Steve Winn, Karl Precoda and Kendra Smith) with TRUE WEST were the top players.
I post this today because in October there is a life show of The Dream Syndicate here in Italy (I think is a reunion but I am not so informed about the actual composition of the band.
I have not yet decided if I will go or if it is better to listen to the original version of 1982 (I have the vinyl version of the front picture here). In the link there is a reissue version with more tracks.
