A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS - Rare and Deadly (2026)

 

Just released beginning of April. It's a new release of mostly previously unheard songs recorded between 2015 - 2025. Technically it's not their new album of the band from New York but it works like an album.

The wall-sound of A Place to Bury Strangers cannot leave indifferent who, in the '80s, loved Jesus and Mary Chain and that sound.

On the Bandcamp page of the group, the album is very well summarized "This collection of B-sides, abandoned experiments, and forgotten fragments reveals the band at their most unfiltered-caught between breaktrough ideas and beautiful mistakes "

NEUTRALS - New Town Dream (2024)

 

Neutrals are an American band from the San Francisco Bay Area. Theirs is a nostalgic post-punk or, depending on how you interpret it, can also be considered an interestind result of the new indie scene. This "New Town Dream" is their third release after the debut "Kebab Disco" in 2019 and the EP "Bus Stop Night" in 2022. The songs are short (less than 3 minutes), catchy and easy. Wheter you consider it  a "revival" or an "innovative sound" i like it and I consider this a good release.

HEARTWORMS - Glutton for Punishment (2025)

 

After an EP and few singles, here is the first album of HEARTWORMS.

Jojo Orme is voice and leader of this interesting group from London. A mix of sonorities coming from post-punk, psychedelic and other with different cultural influences, too.

MORPHINE - Cure For Pain (1993)

 

Cure for Pain was the 2nd album of Morphine. The band from Boston created an original sound not easy to classify. Mark Sandman was the main actor with his two string bass and low tones voice. The result is really excellent.

LOVE AND ROCKETS - My Dark Twin (2023)

 

Love and Rockets are Back. This 2023 release  (2 CD) is  really a surprise. 

Special Atmophere from the ex Bauhaus (except Peter Murphy). A tour will also be possible but in the meantime enjoy this.

"Various outtakes, remixed tracks, and an assortment of other stuff from the sessions associated with last Love and Rocket's full-length record from the 1990's. There are 6 previously unreleased tracks and 8 alternative versions from the Sweet F.A. recording sessions."

DEEP TAN - Creeping Speedwells (2021)/ Diamond Horsetail (2022)

 

The first time I listen to this my mind came back to '80 and minimal sound of "Young Marble Giants" ( I need to repost it).

Of course there are differences  (in 40 years is quite normal) but emotions are nearly the same.

Good start for this interesting band from London. I realize they also open the "Bodega" tour recently and this is a good business card, too.

LUNCH - Let us have madness openly (2015)

It is difficult to find something related to this US band (Portland Oregon) on the web and it is really strange because of their good quality.
I don't know why but since I listen to this for the first time one or two months ago I am playing their music continuosly.
There are different influences here (UK post-punk, Gun Club, early Cure) but at the result is a wonderful sound with appeal and rhythm.
The first work  "Quinn touched the sun" (I think only a cassette record) was more rought but in this one there is more balance.
Really a good work.

P.I.L. - Greatest hits, so far

I have a ticket for the P.I.L concert  (Milan October 11). I didn' t listen to P.I.L. since many years so I decided to prepare myself for the next concert playing some old LP.
I read that John Lydon come back with a new work in 2012 after 20 years and that a new album was just release in 2015. I listen to that a little bit and at the moment I cannot give an opinion.
Waiting for that here is a Greatest Hits released in 1990.
