SIMPLE MINDS - April 27, 2017 (Acoustic Tour Milan)

Classic Appointment with Simple Minds Tour yesterday. They love Italy and Italy love them. Jim has always something new to show. This time with the acoustic tour he choose to be in as theater, speaking italian and joking with the public. He is really a front man! He has a future on TV shows!!😃

Good performance as usual  also with this new revised band.

Two years ago, same place, the 5x5 tour and now the new tour "Celebration". It is always a pleasure to see Jim and his band also if year after year the time pass also for him. Really this concert was not comparable with the unforgettable 5x5 tour (see the old post). This one was more conventional (probably because of the high expectation). The performance was divided in two parts (plus the final closure). The first 50 min were flat and Jim too soft. The real concert was in the second part. More power, more rythm and  the most famous hits. At the end I was satisfied after 2 hr and a half. But again the 2012 5x5 tour  was        really another thing.

It was difficult to believe but at the end it was  true........ 2 and a half hours of concert with only a 15 min break.
This was the SIMPLE MINDS performance in Milan of the 5x5 tour (5 songs for any of the first 5 LP).  Very good show  this is my  comment. Jim Kerr, despite of the age,  on the scene is  not so different from the first time I saw him (it was 1983). Burchill is still there working on the guitars, the keyboards section is really the weakest point compared to the past ( MacNeil  was another thing), but what is really impressive is the presence of the drum section. Mel Gaynor is simply perfect and this  was the good  surprise of this night.

The public (really not so young) seems to appreciate the performance and after two days,  without the exitement of the moment I can say that it was A GREAT EVENT!! (welcome back SIMPLE MINDS).

SIMPLE MINDS - Empires and Dance

 Simple Minds is a well known name in the music world. This was their third album and it was my first contact with their music. I loved them in the '80 and '90, then I stay for a long time without listen to their music; now, writing this post, I'm listening to some old work like "sons and fashination" and it is  a good feeling again.

I saw Simple Minds first time live in Milan (it was 1983) and then again in piazza Grande at Locarno (1986 great concert!!!)
