ART PEPPER - Gettin' Together (1960)

I agree that compared with my last post (Neutrals), this is a big Jump !!!

But this is music. To be free to move from genre to genre and moving through the time.

So just few days before Xmass and with the alternative of a compulsive shopping Sunday, I choose a lazy cold winter Sunday at home reading a book and listening to some good music.

If you prefer the second option  I think this  is a good soundtrack.

NEUTRALS - Kebab Disco (2019)

First time I listen to this band my first thinking was "they sound like  first WIRE". It can be arisky comparison but listen after listen I have again the same impression.

What other I can say...... I can only  wish them the same career!!!

Waiting for future confirmation.

MARTINA TOPLEY BIRD - Some Place Simple (2010)

Martina Topley Bird is probably well known for her collaborations with Massive Attack and Tricky but she also makes solo works (she is songwriter, piano and guitar player). Just few days ago her fouth LP was released on the market " Forever I want".  Collaboration with Massive Attack member is evident in this new work (first song  appears as a Massive Attack sound).

Here a mp3 copy of previous disc "Some Place Simple" dated 2010.

DAVID SYLVIAN - Dead Bees on a Cake (1999)

I have to confess that David Sylvian is, in this period, one of the most played artists on my devices.

I have this CD since many years and I found it very relaxing. The best for a quite  sunday morning at home.

OREGON - Oregon (1983)

Due to the unespected success of the previous post of  Oregon -(Distant Hills ) posted in January and actually N°1  in the " most popular posts", I decided to add a new one for this band.

This is dated 1983  (10 years after distan hills). The sound is not the same but similar. Towner and McCandless base sound is there and will remain also for the future.

STEELY DAN - Gaucho (1980)

Here a classic album of '80. I was not a Steely Dan fan at that time, but after years (a lot) and listening to the radio I was curiously attracted by the jazzy sound of Donald Fagen band. I resume some of their works  and Gaucho is probably the most known. (together with D. Fagen Night Fly).

DAVID SYLVIAN - Live in Theatre (1988)

David Sylvian live. Here I think he was at the top of his period.

The quality sound is good for this unofficial release on CD. Here a mp3 version I extract from Youtube. I

These days I am playing this more and more together with "the First day" of 1993 with Robert Fripp. That was another tour performed mainly in theatre and I am happy today I can say "I was there" for both tours.

DANIELE LUPPI & PARQUET COURTS -Milano (2017)

Parquet Courts  NY based group part of the new underground movement in the big apple, here in collaboration with the Italian composer Daniele Luppi.

The result is a good work that balance of some roughness and aggressive sound of the band with a more relaxed sound. Interesting is also the support of Keren O voice in 4 of the 9 songs.

THE GUN CLUB - Pastoral Hide & Seek (1990)

It's a rainy day. I am listening to some old vinyls and I put on the turntable  THE GUN CLUB  "The Las Vegas Story". The Blues-Punk-Rock of the band was at the top of that period (1984).

I was curious to hear something else from J.Lee Pierce so I tale this "Pastor Hide & Seek". The work is dated 1990 and I can say less punk and a little bit more "melodic" if we can use "melodic" for The Gun Club music.

This work for sure is not the most famous of the band but I think could be a good soundtrack for a rainy day.

HERE: Pastoral Hide & Seek

this is not my rip but thanks to the original ripper.

BODEGA - Endless Scroll (2018)

From NY indie scene Bodega comes with their first release in 2018.

Their music is very attractive to me with reminescence of Devo, B52's and other group of '80.

To stay at today we can have similarity with other young group like Fontaines D.C., Yard Act just on the other side of the ocean.

Here a mp3 copy : Endless Scroll

If you want to see live, you can take a look to this full live concert in France. The power of the band is so evident !!    you tube video

OREGON - Distant Hills (1973)

Back in the years this is an LP with great appeal to me. I remember the first time I listen to it. I was fascinated by the sound of OREGON and still in recent years I followed their so long career.

The two historical members of the group are Ralph Towner, well known guitarist, and Paul McCandless (oboe and other wind instruments), they introduce also world music component in their works with extraordinary results. OREGON release about 30 LP together and several solo or collaboration works. A great contribute to "jazz" (and not only ) music.

TEMPERS - Services (2015)

I want to start the new year in the best way. Here a great work from an interesting duo from NY.

Tempers this is the name of the band and they catch me from the first listening. Not so many information available from the web but anyway you can have  also on spotify, deezer etc. also with their last work "Private life " (2019).

Services is anyway my favourite.
