SOUL II SOUL - The Club Mix Hits (1998)

Jumping back almost 30 years, this album was a collection of hits from the best acid jazz music of the era.

It's still a joy to listen to today and doesn't show its age.

Enjoy! The Club Mix Hits

ERYKAH BADU - Mama's Gun (2000)

A friend of mine suggested we go to a concert in Milan next November. Honestly, I wasn't very familiar with Erykah Badu's name, so I did some research online.

That's how I discovered Erykah's LP "Mama's Gun" (it will be the subject of Erykah's tour). It was a nice surprise for me. I'm a fan of acid jazz and trip hop, and here you can find a good interpretation of this musical genre, combined with a truly special voice that makes this work a masterpiece.

So I'm looking forward to attending one of the 2 concerts scheduled in Italy for next November!!!

Meshell Ndegeocello - Peace Beyond Passion ( 1996)

This is a discovery of the  last day. Honestly I had never heard Meshell Ndegeocello before. intrigued, I searched for his works on the web and the result is that this “Peace beyond Passion” (my favourite) is constantly in my CD player .

Her work are different each other; from hi-pop to lounge and jazz.

I can define” Peace beyond passion “ as a mix of acid-jazz and Trip-hop but you can easily catalog as you want by listening to it.

SWING OUT SISTER - Kaleidoscope World (1989)

Following my previous post here is another easy listening work.

We are in a dark period so some easy listening is good accepted.

Swing Out Sister comes as a trio with experienced players (A Certain Ratio, Magazine). Their music is a mix of Jazz/Funk/Pop/Disco and I can include in the Acid-Jazz club.

THE BRAND NEW HEAVIES - The Brand New Heavies (1992)

Friday Night so something of easy-listening today. If  I consider  the '80 New Wave period, I can say that in the '90  Acid Jazz was one of the main music tendency.

This is a 1992 CD and "The Brand New Heavies" were part of Acid Jazz movement (today could be Trip-Hop) with others like Soul II Soul, Adeva, Sade,

INCOGNITO & GREGORY PORTER - Villa Arconati July 24, 2014

Villa Arconati Music Festival is a quite famous appointment in the Milan area every year. Villa Arconati is a nice old villa with a large green park. Thursday 24 -7 -2014  to close the 2014 edition of the music festival, there was a combined event with Gregory Porter and Incognito. Really a great night music started at 9:30 until 12:30. I decided to go at the last minute (just a little bit of sun in this strange wet summer was enough to decide). 30 € well spent for a chair few meters from the stage (not so common for a music show). Gregory Porter was unknown to me and a good surprise. Good Jazz with Gospel influence really a great voice and good band (mention for saxophone). After more than one hour Gregory leave the scene to Incognito. 11 elements on the scene with a lot  Funky Power.  Really a relaxing music night just what I needed after a heavy working day. Waiting for next year edition of this festival.

SOUL II SOUL - Jazzie's Groove

Acid Jazz? Funky Jazz? Trip-Hop how to archives this ? This is not a problem. You can call as you prefer but the essence is the same. This is the music of 90's (of course this is my opinion). After the post-punk, after the new wave period, here we are!! Just relax yourself,  take your time, dance if you want and enjoy...... your life.

THIEVERY CORPORATION

Honestly speaking until this week I never  heard about Thievery Corporation. It was moving around various blogs that I  listen to this band. Immediately I realized I like this sound and so I went deep and deep (listening) in this new experience.
It is really a mix of different styles, dub, chill, hi pop, acid jazz. Just like to shake Massive Attack with Soul II Soul, Jamaican, Brazilian, Indian, African ......really  multi-ethnic influences with an interesting result.

Here is a collection of six tracks from different works: enjoy
