DESERT MOUNTAIN TRIBE - Om Parvat Mistery (2018)

Two years ago I saw this band from London as "supporters" to Peter Murphy & David J concert for 40th of Bauhaus.

I had the impression  of a talented band and all the audience appreciated their show (too short). I had no any news about them and looking on the web it seems they stopped any activity at the moment. This is probably their second (and last) LP dated 2018.

A good work of psych-rock mixed with '80 new wave sonorities (Echo & the Bunnymen ?).

JAPAN - Quiet Life (1979)

Today on a Boring Sunday afternoon I started listening to some of my old vinyls. It is really true that what is good is never old. I bought this LP several years ago (probably around '82- '85) in Milan; there is still a stick with the record shop and price (Buscemi disc Lire 7500 around 3,2 €). Among others today I put on the turntable :

-Go Between

-Eric B & Rakim

-Japan

Now I am listening to Sylvian/Jansen/Barbieri/Karn "Rain Tree Crow" following the Japan/Sylvian way. At the end I can say that this afternoon ........was not so boring.

I post here the link to  Japan "Quiet Life" for you. This is not my rip but a CD version (1979) I had on my Hard disc.

SWING OUT SISTER - Kaleidoscope World (1989)

Following my previous post here is another easy listening work.

We are in a dark period so some easy listening is good accepted.

Swing Out Sister comes as a trio with experienced players (A Certain Ratio, Magazine). Their music is a mix of Jazz/Funk/Pop/Disco and I can include in the Acid-Jazz club.

THE BRAND NEW HEAVIES - The Brand New Heavies (1992)

Friday Night so something of easy-listening today. If  I consider  the '80 New Wave period, I can say that in the '90  Acid Jazz was one of the main music tendency.

This is a 1992 CD and "The Brand New Heavies" were part of Acid Jazz movement (today could be Trip-Hop) with others like Soul II Soul, Adeva, Sade,

CHIAVE DI VOLTA - Ritratto Libero (2004)

Listening to this you can think is a '70 work of the Italian Jazz-progressive- rock era. But I realize this was a new-progressive work of a band coming from Florence " Chiave di Volta" dated 2004. Really a splendid work!!!

It seems a rare CD and only 2 previous live record are existing (2001). Additional info are available here on web:

GIARDINI DI MIRO' - Different Times (2018)

This Italian group come back after some years with this new work in 2018. Sonorities are very clear with good technique and good arrangements. Also the vinyl  (2 LP 180 gr.) and double cover is in a refined packaging.
At the end the content seems good but not at the same level.
Here is a rip of my vinyl copy.

STAN RIDGWAY - Anatomy (1999)

Stan Ridgway after the "Wall of Voodoo" experience began a solo career. His unmistakable voice, melanchonic ballads and stories are the main ingredients of his music. "The Big Heat" and "Mosquitos" are the most popular works of  his solo career. "Anatomy" appears to be more thoughtful compared to the others. The  "techno-western" characteristic of Wall of Voodoo music is here less evident and more relaxed atmospheres are proposed in this album.

SURF60 - Spotify playlist (May 2020)

In this period I spent a lot of time at home (as many of you I presume).
Music was a good way to fill the time and I also explored new sources.
For example on  "spotify" or "deezer"  I search for new bands (but also well known), different  sonorities and so on.
In few words I was interested  to  search something different or new (for me).
Here is an exctract of some interesting things I collect in a playlist.
The playlist at the moment is at the beginning  and new songs probably will be added in the future.
If you are interested here it is:

RITUAL HOWLS - Rendered Armor (2020)

Another proposal from my recent listening. This US band was in a spotify playlist presented by "Second Still". So I searched for some works and this is the last issued (dated 2020).
Interesting band and listening to this seems to me like a cocktail:
50% Sister of Mercy, 10% Wall of Voodoo, 10% Thin White Riot, 10% Various  and just a little of Simple Minds (track "Thought Talk" remember me Simple Minds at early works sonorities of Empires & Dance and Sons and Fascination).

SINK YA TEETH - Sink Ya Teeth (2018)

In this period of forced locked down we have additional time for our music. I take the opportunity to search for something new (for me) using spotify, deezer, bancamp and suggestion coming from other blogs. This duo "Sink Ya Teeth" is one of the interesting thing I discovered. Here is the first work dated 2018 with the duo name but they just release the new one "Two". You can easily search on the streaming music tools or take a look here

ANDRA DAY - Cheers to the Fall (2015)

This week watching at the TV (yes we are still confined at home) a movie based on Gianrico Carofiglio "night passengers" I was attracted by the soundtrack. A Beautiful voice , cool atmosphere. So I search on the web some information about this soundtrack and at the end this is the result:
Andra Day is the singer and "Rise up" probably the most famous song (some similarity with Adele ).
The first album is dated 2015 and here for who doesn't know, the possibility to test.

ENJOY: Cheers to the Fall

JULIE'S HAIRCUT - After Dark (2006)

Julie’s Haircut 2006 work “After Dark, my sweet” here as mp3 version. Excellent sonorities from the Italian group. Some tracks will be later used as basis for their future works.

THE THE - Infected (1986)

In this period because of the COVID-19 restrictions (close at home as all italian and part of europeans are raccomented to do), I spent some time to reorganize my vinyls and CDs. I had in my hand this 1986  LP from THE THE  (Matt Johnson). I think that title and front cover decribes very well the  existing atmosphere at the moment in great part of the world.
I already posted this in 2016 but the old link is probably expired.
Waiting for a better period we can listen to some good music.
This is not my rip but I found it

LES PANTIES - Cold Science (2016)

I was introduced to this band by "needletime " blogmaster's blog and I have to Thank You him for this.  After listening to the EP " here nad now " posted here: (needle time)
I was curious to hear something more .
At the end I found  this on the web.
It is a CD compilation with all the previous released of the band.
I don't know if it a my own feeling or a new fashion but I hear to this "80 new wave" music more and more by new bands.
It could be that NEW WAVE is coming again!!!!

Good listening to this:      Cold Science
