I already post this in 2012 (link expired). I am listening to the 2016 new work by Stan (Priestess of the promise land) and in the meantime I decide to repost this solo works from Wall of Voodoo former singer.
Too early to give a comment to the new work (just listen to 3 tracks) but seems that Stan style is always with us !!!

THE CURE -Milan November 2, 2016
1984-1985-1989-1992-2016.........more than 30 years and it seems yesterday. It is always an emotional experience to join THE CURE concerts !!! Yesterday night at Assago Forum it was a great event with 2016 Cure show. More than 2 hours with the complete Cure history from "Three Imaginary boys" to "Lovecats" and of course the evergreen "A Forest". CURE Live shows were always full of music power and also in this 2016 tour there is a sound wall with bass and drums as background for fine guitars lyrics and Robert Smith voice (really not so bad compared to 30 years ago). And As Robert says..."see you again"

PETER MURPHY - October 23, 2016 (Brescia Latteria Malloy)
Here again. After the Bauhaus 35 years anniversary tour, Peter is coming back in a different way. A semi acoustic (Strapping Tour) with songs from his solo production with some "classic" from Bauhaus archive.
It was a wonderful night also because I was really near (pratically on the stage) and Peter demonstrate to be a great professionist of the music world. three elements (Peter + guitar + bass) but enough to fill the ambient with a delicious sound. Nothing to do with dark of gothic movement performance.
Great Peter, waiting for next time!!!

SUM 41 - Milan August 26, 2016
Some months ago I promise my daughter to go with her at a SUM41 concert (Milan was the only Italian date for 2016 tour). The group was unknown to me (other generation) and so I start listening to some of their song. The sound is what I identify as easy-punk and Green Day are for me the reference band.
The concert at the end was not bad. 1 and a half hour of music and the audience (average age around 20 y) satisfied also for the announcement of a new album in October.
Different from what I normally listen for but anyway MUSIC.

GITHEAD - Art Pop (2007)
One of this summer night when it was no possible to sleep (because of the high temperature) i was listening to some music I didn' t listen for quite a long time. GITHEAD was a good surprise. This is a parallel history of Colin Newman with MINIMAL COMPACT members. The result is a very good sound . Some part seems really to have the best wire sonorities. They provide 3 or 4 works and this is in my opinion the nearest to Wire sound.

MASSIVE ATTACK - Milan July 23, 2016
Two Years ago I was very impressed by Massive Attack performance. Now nothing (or few things) are changed. One hour delay waiting from the planned start time, the same drumming and rhytmic power ( I can define it " disruptive", the sound (always perfect), the light show (hypnotizing).
So what's new: some new songs from " ritual spirit" with a new voice (I was not so excited by his voice).
What is missed: Martina Topley Bird voice and "Teardrop".
Massive Attacck = Unmissable anyway

SUEDE - Monza July 10, 2016
I was convinced by my friend Andrea to buy the ticket for the final i-Day night at Monza. Just few minutes walk from my home so why not. I was not a Suede fan; I just listen to songs on the web before the concert.Bratt Anderson was a surprise on the stage. Just a cocktail of Iggy pop, Peter Murphy and David Bowie with some paranoic attitudes. But, and this is evident, a great voice.
The same night there was another unknown (at least for me) band, Biffy Clyde. probably more famous for younger generation ( this according to the audience). Nothing special I think. Just an "easy punk-rock- band". They remember me Green Days or Sum41 ( That I will see with my daughter next August).
At the end it was a good summer night spent with friends drinking one (or more) good beer!!!

TUXEDOMOON - June 10, 2016 Milan (Black Hole)
I was really impressed by TUXEDOMOON during last concert in Milan (December 2014) so I had very high expectation versus the new 2016 tour. At the end the quality of the music and the band is not under discussion; what was wrong this time was the location for the show. Black Hole is really a "hole", a discotheque with a little (but really little) stage for live show. The acoustics was inadequate; in some moments the noise of people at the bar was higher than the band sound!!!
I think that for Tuxedomoon music a theater and a silent listening would be more appropriate.

PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT - May 5, 2016 Milan (Serraglio)
If you have any doubt you need just to take a look to the set list of the tour.About 30 songs and pratically the complete "unknown pleasures " and " closer" set; yes absolutely it was a tribute to Joy Division.
New Order songs, few at the beginning of the set, were just an introduction and nothing to do with the intensity of the heart of the set.
The choice of Serraglio stage was not the best (too small, no
ventilation) but it was the only negative point of a great night!!
The final with "Transmission" and "Love Tear us apart " fully involved people dancing (see the video). My favourite was anyway "Shadowplay".
Thanks Peter

STEREO MC'S - Connected (1992)
Recently I found this on another music blog and at the end I download it just to listen. I remember some songs but not the name of the band. I think it is a 1992 album but despite the cover picture (just a little bit old fashion) the content of the album is very actual from my point of view. It is an irresistible funky-soul-hi-pop-dance rhythm. I will search for othe works of the band to check if they have the same high quality!!

THEODOR BASTARD - Live in Dobrolet Studio 2013
Theodor Bastard is an interesting group from Russia (S. Pietroburgo). It is not easy to catalog their music into a fix scheme mainly because it' s a mixture of different styles, cultures and ethnics. You can have a little bit of "Radiohead" with "Folk like McKennit" And "Trip-Hop atmospheres". The girl voice is really addictive and emotional and sound refined. I Like !!

THE MOFFS - Labyrinth 1988
Thanks to some recent posts on other very good blogs (see everything start with A..) I re-discovery an old love for an Aussie band. The Moffs were on my favourite list years ago and now I can say that there was a good reason for that. It is not difficult to see connection with early Pink Floyd and their sound is always a good balance of all music ingredients. Really an important piece of music history.

JESUS & MARY CHAIN - Psychocandy
First LP by Jesus & Mary Chain 1985 from Scotland. It was an immediate success. Sound was very rough but with oniric atmosphere. One of my favourite at that time.....

THE THE - Infected (1986)
THE THE, alias Matt Johnson has a special position in the '80 music. It is not so easy to classify his music; techno songwriter could be my definition. This is the second album he produced (probably in a reissue edition with additional tracks. I take from other blogs times ago..
